news bamA MyMT member contributed this article and comments to me.  While we have become quite frustrated with the behavior of many MTSOs, there are some estimates that this work is going back in house!  I hope you'll have a read of these very interesting articles.

"I don’t know whether you’ve already read about this, but I think this is huge news that the MT community may be interested in hearing about in case you wish to post this to your MyMT site, of which I am a member.

Among the highlights is this article in Healthcare IT News forecasting a “200%” increase in in-house transcription.  Here’s the link to the article:  Click here.

This is on the heels of the American Medical Association (AMA) just announcing the launch of its own Healthcare 2047 initiative at Click here they appear to be taking back their power in the form of a joint venture with Silicon Valley to transform the healthcare industry utilizing technology their way and under their direction, instead of the “tail wagging the dog” scenario that has had them doing increasing amounts of administrative work since the advent of EHR technology.  Part of that involves them saying they want their MTs back – WOW!

This is the article from the AMA website:  Click here.

All of this seems to fit in perfectly with your efforts with the Joint Commission, etc., so I wanted to pass this on for publishing as you see fit."

Those who consider MT a career have left the profession or are planning their exit strategy with the severe decline in the working conditions and regressing wages in MT. Is it possible to turn things around? We shall see.

I have had a rough couple of years health wise, but this has allowed me to survey a bunch of doctors. The hospitals/doctors I deal with (and where I USED to work before the Big N took all the work) are not happy with the quality of work they are getting back. Since I’m so vigilant about my records, I get copies of everything. I have found notes indicating I have 2 types of cancer which I don’t have. Getting these errors corrected is proving to be painstaking. I certainly hope the pendulum is swinging back towards the middle and we will once again have more onshore MLS who are dedicated to doing excellent work. The mention of “more reimbursement” with ICD-10 may be our savior. We all know that getting paid from the insurance companies is the bottom line. Fingers crossed.
